American GFM Corporation, a specialized machine tool manufacturer located in Chesapeake VA, is seeking to hire a CNC Programmer.
Responsibilities
» Analyze drawings, blueprints, plans, materials, specifications and design data for machining parts.
» Program mills and lathes by entering detailed written instructions to the machine operators, including zero and reference points, tool selection and setting data, offsets; calculating requirements, creating part geometry, machine speeds and feed rates, proving part programs.
» Maintain specifications and increase efficiency by troubleshooting processes, adjusting and reprogramming/reposting.

Competencies
» Excellent problem-solving skills.
» Excellent technical communication skills regarding designs and drawings
» Proficient understanding of G-code and M-code programming.
» Experience setting up and troubleshooting manual and CNC machines.
» Mathematical (geometry and trigonometry), mechanical and technical skills.
» Understanding of precision measuring instruments, including micrometers and calipers, and the quality control process.
Required Education and Experience
» High school diploma or GED.
» Three plus years’ experience as a CNC Programmer programming with 2D/3D CAD/CAM software, experience with Siemens and Fanuc
controls and Mastercam a plus.
» Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Working knowledge of the metric and imperial system.
» Working knowledge of measuring instruments including calipers & micrometers. Quality control experience helpful.
» Intermediate to advanced shop math including geometry and trigonometry.
» Proficient using a PC in a Windows environment.
» Knowledge of fabricating and machining weldments.
